  5. Resolved Question: What should I do about my family business?
  6. 11 Feb 2008 at 12:47am
I buried my father on the 25th of January. His mother died last Friday. It is a lot to deal with. They have property. Neither had a will. I am the sole beneficiary. I should say that I had an extraordinary relationship with both. I am stricken with grief over the losses and my primary focus has been about life and death type questions and answers. Trying to make decisions about keeping them alive artificially or to let them go. Neither had wills and neither provided answers about what they wanted in their individual situations. As it turned out, it didn't really matter because they both did not respond to artificial life-giving means. And they both died. My late grandmother owns a business in a small to medium size town. As I plan the funeral, buy flowers, arrange burial, everywhere I go people ask what I'm going to do with the business. I don't want to move back here. But I hate to sell the place because of my family. What should I do?

  7. Resolved Question: My candid opinion about Myspace?
  8. 10 Feb 2008 at 4:20pm
On Sunday, September 17, 2006, I finally decided to close my doors to the one thing we seemed to all have in common: MySpace.   It was a bittersweet day for sure, but I just couldn't ignore that nagging, annoying voice that kept telling me how MySpace only fosters addiction, superficiality, and is actually nothing much more than a self commercial. The voice spoke truth- MySpace made me yearn to feel connected to people, when really, it was the strong sense of disconnection to the real world that hypnotized me, making me yearn for more.   To think that the majority of the United States' youth is spending such an unbelievable amount of time engaging themselves in this unreal world, is not only disheartening, but disturbing. It has become more than a service, but a lifestyle. We live in this artificial existence that depreciates the human soul. Why? Because we are addicted. And like all addictions, when we are not using, we feel like we're missing something, and are often depressed. We have relied on MySpace to fill a need that should be given to us through a more natural state of being. Yet, whether it's ignorance, denial, or indifference, our eyes are glued to that screen- awaiting the comments people give us, to make us feel complete.   Some of the very things our soul needs to survive on may bore us nowadays. For instance, sitting on a hill in a meadow making shapes out of clouds. Watching a flock of birds fly home for the night across a gray sky. Spending the day walking around with a loved one. All of these are natural experiences which help keep us grounded and connected to the source. The only thing I feel while submerging myself in MySpace is the obsessive need to find out more and more about everyone's insignificant (yet sometimes very personal) details of their lives through a computer screen that would often give me a headache. That, and the desperate need to check if anyone had posted me a flattering comment. I found myself more preoccupied with other people's profiles than the natural things that keep me whole.   This raises the question, "What does today's youth value most?" We may as well bid farewell to any hope of restoring a more natural and conscious tomorrow. With more than 106 million users, and the third most popular website in the US, MySpace proves to win. From livestrong bracelets to flags on our cars, most of us just jump on the bandwagon, crack open a red bull and wave good-by.   I say, if you want know me, look me in the eyes, take a walk with me. Why hide behind our computer screens where everything is pretentious and impersonal? I have desires to fulfill and passions to live out. I don't want MySpace to slow me down.

  9. Resolved Question: Could God be a human?
  10. 10 Feb 2008 at 10:53am
When you think that right now man has already created a biological computer and that Artificial Intelligence is already being created. Is it possible then that humans are just a Biological / Artificial Intelligence creation by another human or a company who no longer lives on this planet? 12. 8 Feb 2008 at 12:16pm
I've heard that Mars is too small to support an atmosphere. I understand that plate tectonics is vital to a planet with life and that would differcult to create artificially. How far into the future would this happen?

  13. Voting Question: Could man create for lack of a better word, life?
  14. 8 Feb 2008 at 12:27am
Through understand how the world around us works do you think it is possible we will eventually have the capibility to reproduce something alive? ie- something new- a combination of genetic, biological and chemical enlightenment. not nessecarily a recreation of what we know, rather an invention of sorts. The closest thing we have yet to produce is artifical intelligence, basically due to the fact that we have thuroughly mastered the art of mathmatics. Has not man the same capacity to master the sciences. What then of a combination of artificial intelligence within a created physical "body," in which chemical, biological, electrical reactions occur the sustain the "mind" of the man produced artificial intelligence. Furthermore do you feel it would be possible to harness our mathmatical mastery whithin the context of biology, for surely chemistry seems to me almost numerical in nature. The image of a double helix comes to mind. Could man not be the arcitect of intricate proportions? I agree. I belive that man is once again going through an enlightenment age. Our society is in chaos and all the knowledge that we have newly aquired takes time to be fully expressed. It is never ending. I would go farther to argue that with such profound understanding would by reason make upon those truely adhering to logic the realisticness that there is NO GOD. If so he did not use his "mythical super amazing wonder powers to create man or life for that matter." It would stand to reason that "GOD," or "GODS" (as previously nieve humans used to be) would likely posses rather understanding, such as history will tell man most certainly has potential for. correction, believe. bla bla bla GOD bullshit. Fact- God does not answer all questions that have not been answered yet. Is a matter of TIME. Perhaps we should worship Time instead, for it is wonderous and confusing. Perhaps that should be our answer for all questions too difficult for the yoke bearing cattle that are the slave masses. Wake up people. FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD, life. Hereafter the subject of what I speak will be called efil, it will be the anti-life. The complete opposite, I believe man's dark side is surely capible of producing and anti-life then. Look at war and the anti-accomplishments they have created. Time is definitly in need of some attention. It afterall gives us all the answers.

  15. Resolved Question: Can a brain be transplanted?
  16. 7 Feb 2008 at 1:19am
If so, would the body receiving the donors brain be the identity of the donor? Would both individuals not exist anymore? I consider medical success in this capacity would be based on the patient's body achieving vitality, but perhaps just on a physiological level (functional organs, and the potential for motor ability in both involuntary and voluntary capacities, like cardiac and breathing abilities). When you consider the "ghost in the machine" question in philosophy, various suppositions attempt to quantify what it is. Albeit, and conscious experience that manifests from a soul or some other possibility that likens itself to artificial intelligence (your computer). Or, maybe something else that transcends our human understanding. Is it not an "essence" that would essentially be gone when the brain of a human on life-support is placed into the head of another? You must first wonder if the person originally on life support even exist anymore. You should consider that many patients on life support have regained their consciousness because of unrelenting family members who refused to pull the plug. It suggests that their essence or machine ghost was in suspension on some other plane. It could manifest in the body again because the body was not clinically dead. Should this not be the same for a brain transplantation into another body that is also not clinically dead? Would you really want your loved one back if the operation made them a superhuman monster? Would it be ethical to euthenize them because they were danger to people?

  17. Resolved Question: Can you correct my essay?
  18. 6 Feb 2008 at 8:12am
ROBOTS As many writers and playwrights have depicted in their books or films, we tend to imagine robots as our partners that can talk with us and understand our feelings. But of course, our technology has not reached that level yet. We can only communicate with them through artificial voices that can reply in limited situations with a strict set of potential questions and answers. So the relationships between robots and human beings remain within the bounds of pseudo-communication. It seems like the days we can enjoy witty conversations with them are a long way off. Well, are robots our friends only in science fiction? No way! They have gradually appeared in our daily lives. Aibo, the robot dog produced by Sony, has a sales record of 150,000 units in spite of its high price of over \200,000. Unfortunately, production has been stopped, but I?m sure the accumulated data and technology will be succeeded to a future humanoid robot, which Honda or Toyota is developing now.

  21. Resolved Question: Do men like women with COLORED contacts?
  22. 5 Feb 2008 at 9:20am
My eyes are naturally a light- medium brown (they change throughout the day.) I've recently tried hazel contacts and while they look okay, I feel SO fake. But people always give me compliments. I've never dyed my hair (it's naturally straight, dark- almost black) and I like to keep make up to a minimum. (I'm half Korean, 1/4 Hispanic, 1/4 White.) so it wouldn't be completely abnormal looking. The guy I like always teases me about them. I'm trying to go for a new look (I have had the same look my whole life.) But I refuse to dye my hair, go fake tanning, wear artificial nails or wear gobs of make up. Does this make me completely fake? My eyes are naturally a light- medium brown (they change throughout the day.) I've recently tried hazel contacts and while they look okay, I feel SO fake. 25. Resolved Question: artificial intelligence?
  26. 4 Feb 2008 at 5:04pm
if we were ever to create AI, would we consider it life? i mean, it could just be a robot, but itd be able to think for itself and create more robots. i know there is no set definition for life, but it seems like that should fit into any definition we could come up with. it seems so weird that a robot could be considered life... jack. im asking if artificial intelligence, like a robot capable of coherent thought without any human aid after its creation, would be considered life.

  27. Resolved Question: robots to continue the search for life in space.?
  28. 3 Feb 2008 at 8:37pm
so according to moores law, computers should eventually become quicker and smarter than human brains, even within 30 years. by that time, do you expect these artificial lives to continue operates of searching space as robotic probes do today? Do you think they will even become their OWN space traveling race with their own culture? How do you think they would impact our culture and our own desire to explorer space. I guess I'm asking, how can a mechanical race mutliple times smarter than us and near immortal, and measly humans , coexist in long distance space travel. (please. no 2001 correlations. its too obvious, and HAL was only a sub character and a side story in the whole 2001 story)

  29. Resolved Question: Ethics on artificial life opinions please?
  30. 3 Feb 2008 at 6:21am
Ok ive watched alot of television programs concerning A.I. life forms, one that concerned me recently was the final treatment of an A.I. life form in this weeks stargate atlantis; http://gateworld.net/atlantis/s4/415.shtml . I would be interested in views of others concerning the treatement of such life forms if you consider them a life form or not. I found the ending and treatment of the A.I. life form at the end rather harsh, true they are a machine but so are humans. And humans tend to place such a narrow minded view on machines as if they have feelings or desireds or not, during the end sequence they showed little empathy towards such life forms. I personally believe all self aware forms of lie are equal and should be shown equal respect and trust, i would be very interested in other peoples views on this subject.

  31. Resolved Question: Why are my baby Mollys suddenly dieing one by one?
  32. 2 Feb 2008 at 12:39pm
I had about 18 baby mollys in a 2.5 gallon tank but they were dieing one by one in it. So i moved them into the 30 gallon tank with the bigger fish (i used a tank divider so they have about one fifth of the tank. There side includes the heater and a small artificial plant. I notice a baby molly with get slow and stick toward the bottom of the tank but swim up during feeding.I feed them live baby brine shrimp, crushed flakes, regular freeze dried brine shrimp, and i used to feed them first bites. I have had them for about 6 months and they are about half a inch, I just added 2 pregnet mollies to there side of the tank and a baby molly who grew up with them most of there lives (i could only find one baby guppy when i got home). I have it filtered, airstone, heated, and the nitate cycle is fine. I had the water tested with Ph nitrate ext. This is when all y angel fish died and it turned out to be a Ph problem but i fixed it. I also notice some baby mollys eyes look cloudy and swollen. Thanks They are in a 30 gallon tank with a divider and it is heated, filtered and has a pump. I also balanced out the Ph level that killed my angel fish. I treated the babies for ick about a day after they got into the tank because they had the disease. I also used water condition for cloarine and just changed the filter.

  33. Resolved Question: Artifical DNA "letters"?
  34. 1 Feb 2008 at 10:14pm
Here is an article I stumbled upon: http://technology.newscientist.com/article/dn13252-artificial-letters-added-to-lifes- alphabet.html What does this mean, exactly? Also, something struck me as extremely interesting. In the article it talks about RNA trafficking and how they may be able to "expand the genetic code and 'evolvability' of an organism." What could this lead to? Could it possibly extend life, improve our capabilities? I am looking for the positive aspects, not the doomsday predictions.

  36. 1 Feb 2008 at 9:56am
There is little work to do as robots does most of them. For Humans, learning is a life-long experience, as they go out and discover new things and to also grow spiritually. We would be surfing the cosmos and visiting new planets... There is no or negligible sin as there is no motive for it. All cures/remedies for major diseases are discovered. Free energy is being harnessed and thus there really isnt anybody poor. Everyone is equal in this new world order. Equality can be shown that the body is actually a "skin", consciousness is what matters. By that time, technology is so advanced that particles can be manipulated in the atomic scale. What is artificial and natural is a blur line. Want to look like Brad Pitt today? Check?want to have Avril Lavigne?s looks tomorrow? Not a problem.. People will be essentially immortal having be able to reverse the aging process. We can be great great great grandfathers and still have a body of a 20 years old. Age-long questions like our existence and how did the universe come about would be answered by then. We will be Gods of our time and spread the love of humanity...

  46. 29 Jan 2008 at 1:08pm
I had my life planned out to the tee! I was married, had my son, and then my husband left me! I wanted to conceive again this past August. and my ex left me this past May. I want another sibling for my son, so bad. I just keep thinking that artificial insemination is the answer! I know it isn't I am just frustrated, am I crazy, go ahead knock this out of my thoughts with your cruelty!

  47. Resolved Question: Could it be that brain transplants could be successful?
  48. 28 Jan 2008 at 8:05pm
if so, would the person who received the brain become the the personal identity of the donor? Or, would the donor's consciousness not exist anymore? Would both donor and receiver be essentially dead? I was thinking in terms of the "ghost in the machine." What is in us that perceives experience. Would the brain receiver's identity and life become simply artificial intelligence? I guess this could become a discussion about spirits and souls or neurological science and ethics. But, I was wondering this in the laundry mat today. Okay, for those who are of the opinion that the person is "dead" when their brain ceases to function; does that mean people who's organs and bodies are kept alive by life support are "dead" because their brain isn't functioning? Does it imply that the life support is putting the vegetative patient in the same state as a computer in that there is no soul or consciousness? What if the brain is just not able to control involuntary movements like vital organ function and breathing? Do cat scans determine any brain function at all? I seriously don't know. I was just bored doing my laundry.

  49. Resolved Question: Autism determined by prenatal factors - such as?
  50. 28 Jan 2008 at 12:10pm
I think the widespread belief among scientists now is that autism is "determined by prenatal alterations in brain development." But what causes these prenatal alterations??? I'm just curious if any scientist out there has thought to do any studies which might link autism to any of the following: exposure of fetus to radiation from microwaves; exposure of fetus to mother's use of birth control pills; exposure of the fetus to too many ultrasounds; exposure of fetus to harmful chemicals in mother's diet (artificial colors, preservatives, etc.) exposure of fetus to harmful chemicals in everyday life (soap, laundry detergent, cell phone waves, etc.)

  51. Resolved Question: Have you heard these words of wisdom? part I?
  52. 28 Jan 2008 at 11:31am
If you're too open minded, your brains will fall out. Age is a very high price to pay for maturity. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you a mechanic. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before. My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious. It is easier to get forgiveness than permission. For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program.

  59. Resolved Question: What if science creates life?
  60. 25 Jan 2008 at 3:59am
We are coming very very near such an event. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/24/AR2008012402203.html? hpid=sec-health Scientists in Maryland yesterday said they had built from scratch an entire microbial chromosome, a loop of synthetic DNA carrying all the instructions that a simple cell needs to live and reproduce. The feat marks the first time that anyone has made such a large strand of hereditary material from off-the-shelf chemical ingredients. Previous efforts had yielded DNA strands less than one-twentieth the size, and those pieces lacked many of the key biological programs that tell a cell how to stay alive. On the basis of earlier experiments, the researchers believe the new, full-length loop would spontaneously "boot up" inside a cell, just as a downloaded operating system can awaken a computer -- a potentially historic event that would amount to the creation of the first truly artificial life form.... By science i mean- scientific research enabling us to create life. Ladyhawk, Give us 200-500 years and see what Humans can do.

Suddenly after 4 months of our relation he disappeared, after 1 Month he told me that now he is engaged but it was't his wish.I was shocked and I wanted to meet him and ask the reason, but always he refused by saying if once he will meet he will be involved again which is not good for us because now he is a married guy,but its true that he loved me and wanted me.There was only hope that he can end up his engagement after meeting me,but now after his marriage it was impossible. But I didn?t leave him and keep contacting as I tried hard to forget but failed,he too stayed in touch but not like before but still he shows a wish inside him to be with me. We kept on going like this and now he finally came to meet me and told me that his wife is 19 years older than him and her right knee and arm joint is artificial,He married to help her he doesn?t want to hurt her that?s why he always kept a distance between us.But now he wants to live his life with me but don?t want to leave his wife too..

  71. Resolved Question: How long until we totally destroy this planet?
  72. 24 Jan 2008 at 12:45am
I recently began thinking seriously about the phenomenon about life, earth, the universe & everything. Ok, yes I know.. a little too much to swollow in 1 bite but lets focus on the nature of earth. I find it amazing that this 'fluke' has occurred, that is our very existence. The precise amount & combination of gasses, water, pressure, etc, & the perfect rotation around the sun causing seasons & the spinning aroung on its own axis causing day & night.. all working in harmony to create life. I wonder if somewhere else in the universe there might be a similar phenomenon, maybe not? This might be the only of its kind ever anywhere. But with the creation of life came the manifestation of the human being. A virus with the intellegence & ignorance set hellbent on the destruction of this 'fluke' as before mentioned. Building artificial structures everywhere, destroying the organs of this planet, creating waste.. its like a planet on heroin. I wonder...

  73. Resolved Question: cps-police took my baby...need advice!!!!!!!!!!?
  74. 23 Jan 2008 at 7:29pm
28 hours ago 4 police officers came barging thru my door because someone called the child abuse hotline. I DO NOT ABUSE MY CHILD! Nor does any form of abuse exist in our life. They didn't ask permission to come in.they didnt show their badge.they humiliated us by making me show them my sons rear end and front..they said they were checking for diaper rash..and of course their was no rash.i am a good mother.i am the best mother i know. my son has never been out of my sight for more than an hour since the day he was born.and the only time i've been away from him is to go to the grocery store once a month. I am still breastfeeding him. He is 18 months old and has never been sick a day in his life. he's never taken medicine. he only eats natural foods without preservatives and artificial flavors. and he is as healthy and loved as he can possibly be. They have placed my child in foster care because our house was messy. we have a puppy. there was a stain on the floor. whatkindofjusticeisthis a new lady that moved upstairs was the one that phoned the abuse hotline. when the cops came there were four men and they were training another officer. they came into my home and saw that there was a dog stain by the front door. they walked around the house looking at everything and they even made a comment to me that if the dog stain wasnt there they would not be taking my son. they were extremly mean to me. they told me that having my child in a messy house was abuse. When i started to cry because they said they would be taking him with them they told me that if i didnt stop they would arrest me. they asked me questions and wouldnt let me answer. they wouldnt let me call family. they told me that my civil liberties were gone because of the so called child abuse. they told me i was a bad mother and that i was lazy. i asked them for documentation from cps and they refused. i asked them if they would have a cps person come and explain why this was happening and they refused. we already cleaned the carpet before the cops even brought his car seat back. there is no problem other than i feel violated that they didnt give me any warning..they never came and inspected..and now they've taken my child away from us for no reason. To everyone who says im not giving the full story then read my old question i posted 2 months ago titled "child protective services? we have lived in our apartment fo rover 2 years....." and that might explain better. There is no problem with my home. the social worker came out this morning and everything was clean and perfect but we dont have a chance at getting our son back until a week from now when we go to court. i just dont understand how the cops could come and take him away like that. with no cps warnings or inspections. it makes no sense. we are good people and great parents and my son is my world. i dont even know what to do without him. he's my life. someone please just tell me how the cops could do that? is that legal? i am telling the story as it is. i am not downplaying as someone said. they did not come with a cps worker. i was not given any notice or time period to clean the carpet or anything. they came and removed my child because of dog stains on the carpet and because it smelld faint of dog urine.....because they are paper trained to use the kennel inside the house. we are not guilty of child neglect in any way shape or form. i just want my kid back! this is the first time in his life that he has ever been away from us. i've never let anyone watch him besides me or my husband. i choose to stay home with him and not work outside of the home. those cops were out of line. my landlord is a liar and they were outside talking to him before they even came to my door. so they came into my home with false information to begin with and they were completly out of line. my rights have been violated and they removed my son from a happy healthy environment for no reason. we even got rid of our dog.

  75. Voting Question: I am taking whey protein supplement...what is another good s...
  76. 23 Jan 2008 at 9:27am
My goal for exercising is to get lean muscle and be ripped. I am not looking to get muscles simply to be strong, I want to look fit. So now you know my workout goal, what is another good supplement to take. I want to stay rather natural with these like whey protein...I am trying to steer clear of things liek creatine because I've heard that it just adds artificial muscles due to the water retention and you lose it all when you get off of it...I don't want to have to take it my whole life. Also...how long do you think I will see the effects of whey protein on my body? If you take whey protein, what are the times of the day you take it? If I take whey protein should I consider taking casein or leucine or anything like that? Glutamine?

  77. Resolved Question: What do you Think about Love and Sex with Robots?
  78. 21 Jan 2008 at 9:19pm
An internationally recognized expert on artificial intelligence, David Levy, claims that within five years they'll be able to manufacture robots that we can have both an emotional and sexual relationship with. Do you think this cutting-edge research will change the course of our cultural history? The robots will be programmable to every type of sex available and the full range of emotions of our choice. Mr. Levy says it will cut down on abusive sexual human interaction because the robots can take the place of an unwilling partner. If these robots truly do become Best Buys specials and widely available, how do you think it will effect civilization if we don't have to interact with each other to receive love and sex? Would you want a Mr.or Mrs. Stepford in your life? What if our robots have affairs with your best friend's robot? Would you watch or get angry? http://www.amazon.com/Love-Sex-Robots-Human-Robot-Relationships/dp/0061359750 Mr. Levy says they will be available in five years but it will take until the middle of the century before they will be cheap enough to that everyone can own one.

  79. Resolved Question: Help me respond to this?
  80. 19 Jan 2008 at 11:54am
Serious answers please. He's not "crazy", he can just be pretty deep sometimes. My boyfriend hasn't called me in a few days, so I sent him a message to make sure everything was okay. This was his reply: "I know its fucked up and I want to apologize for my recent behavior. I'm traped in my own artificial lifestyle that pertains to a very deep and personal conflict of my wordly flesh and a very consciouss over whelming shadow that follows my spirit in this journey of life wich is determined to ruin anything that I can have in this life that can bring me true happiness. And that is how I know you are so right..." He can be a very deep person sometimes, it seems especially when he's going thru things. We've only been together for a little over a month. I don't want to lose him. I get the idea of what he's trying to say...but I'm not 100% sure how to take it. And I want him to know that I don't want to go anywhere if he can get over this. help?

  81. Resolved Question: What is the definition of life?
  82. 19 Jan 2008 at 9:13am
When can we truly call something alive? And could AI (artificial intelligence) like bots in game be considered as being 'alive'?

  83. Resolved Question: Hit me with your best vacation ideas, be creative!?
  84. 19 Jan 2008 at 4:51am
I'm going to be a free soul in about 7 months as I'm going to be fully recovered from a car accident that happened 2 months ago. So to celebrate that, I'm thinking of taking a vacation when i do recover, more like a life changing experience, instead of those typical tropical exotic beaches. Beaches are excellent but I think some of them are just too artificial and business-like if you know what i mean. I'm thinking of the Alps or like Scottish high grounds. I want something relaxing not like a crazy survivorman Panama jungle kind of thing. Hit me with your best shot! be creative Give me a star if you're bad oh I'd like to keep the budget under 3000 but cheaper the better

  87. Resolved Question: some questions about life on the moon?
  88. 14 Jan 2008 at 7:38pm
if people were to live on the moon, what would be some ways to prevent temperature and radiation effects? how would physical discomforts such as space suits be avoided? how would artificial gravity be supplied to stop the loss of muscles?

  89. Resolved Question: Why are humans made of so many chemicals!?
  90. 14 Jan 2008 at 5:54pm
I mean, if scientists know the percentages of the chemicals in our body, why can't they create artificial life forms? (NOT talking about robots!)

  91. Resolved Question: Is artificial insemination against God's will?
  92. 14 Jan 2008 at 2:24pm
I think I may have been born with an STD, but since I've never had a blood test, I can't be sure. My girlfriend and I occassionally let our minds wander into the future, thinking about how our lives would be if we were to get married. We both want children. Here's the problem: she wouldn't want to adopt, and if I turn out to actually have an STD, I wouldn't be able to have children with her naturally. The only other option would be artificial insemination. Would this just be God's way of telling me that I wasn't meant to have children? -Joe Well, I'm still young; I just entered college. So I figure that symptoms would appear AFTER puberty, which, techincally was only about 5-6 years ago. And it was about that time, I started noticing some symptoms. They haven't ever gone away, but they've never gotten any worse.

  93. Resolved Question: Why Does The Lie About This Jefferson Quote Persist ?........
  94. 13 Jan 2008 at 11:44pm
Jefferson never said that , however I still see many who 'think' he did . I've also seen many post that their college 'professors' told them that . Well, if they did they were at least wrong and likely lying . Jefferson DID say this however !! >>> "Political dissension is doubtless a less evil than the lethargy of despotism: BUT IT IS A GREAT EVIL, and it would be as worthy the efforts of the patriot as of the philosopher, to exclude it's influence if possible, from social life. The good are rare enough at best. There is no reason to subdivide them by artificial lines. But whether we shall ever be able so far to perfect the principles of society as that political opinions shall, in it's intercourse, be as inoffensive as those of philosophy, mechanics, or any other, may well be doubted." TJ to Thomas Pinckney, 29 May 1797[2] http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/Dissent_is_the_highest_form_of_patriot ism The beginning of the lie actually goes back much further than many would have thought . . . . John Kerry said it . And Ted Kennedy said it too . However it seems that Nadine Strossen , head honcho of the ACLU might've been the originator of the big lie. . . .. . . . . . . . . .http://volokh.com/posts/1146554363.shtml

  95. Voting Question: Do I have hypoglycemia?
  96. 12 Jan 2008 at 2:13pm
Ever since I can remember, I have always started to shake when I am hungry. Once I start to shake, and I don't eat something, I start to feel faint. On a day when I am somewhat active, I have to eat about every three hours, or I will feel VERY faint and lethargic. This is really bothersome on school days (I start school at 8:00 and don't eat until 2:00), and I get SO shaky that I can't play my violin (my orchestra class is before lunch). Do I have hypoglycemia? I am 17, and this has practically happened my whole life. Could it be my eating habits? I tend to eat only organic fruits and vegetables. I try not to eat much meat, and I am trying to take out any artificial sweeteners in my diet. I don't dink carbonated beverages either. I want to eat only natural foods. Please do not criticize my eating habits because of your personal beliefs. I am only stating my diet for medical reasons

  97. Resolved Question: When is a human not a human?
  98. 10 Jan 2008 at 11:41pm
At what point does a human become something else, be it through gene splicing, artifical parts, genetic drift or artificial life support? kickinup, Genetic drift is genetic variations that occur between generations due to gene mutation. In regards to my question here, I'm wondering at what point does the difference distinguish the offspring to be something other than human. One can approach it biologically from a reproductive capacity or philosophically in what people decide is human. It is very interesting to me, because how we define something determines how we treat it or them, be they people or animals. We use the terms humane and inhumane which we apply for our own convenience.

  99. Resolved Question: Do you talk to yourself?
  100. 10 Jan 2008 at 8:55pm
I usually find myself making artificial scenarios in my head and talk aloud as cause of it. Also there is this 'entity' that is with me which makes me talk to it sometimes, and act a certain way when its presence is strong. Although i don't do it to discern which route in my life i should take such as "should i have one more drink Carrie?, ah hell why not?" type deal, i act as if there is this other person im talking to. Wow that sounds really weird i know, im actually perfectly normal on the outside and in public. I just want to know if others do this?< >
