  5. Resolved Question: Whats better modded xbox or regular wii?
  6. 5 Apr 2008 at 5:54pm
i was looking around and did some research about the xbox (original aka. "the big black box") and i realized something. A modded xbox (in my opinion) is almost as good as the wii. Xbox (refurbished from EbGames) $40 and when modded it can.. -Check the weather (same on wii) -Go on the internet (same as wii) -Back up games to the hard drive (wii cant) -play dvd's (wii can't..kinda sad =( ) -Play online (wii can) -Download emulators : n64,,nes, super nintendo, Game boy/Advanced, Atari, sega, and more (wii can only get n64,nes, & super Nintendo but for a fee) -play cd's (wii cant) -Store cd's/dvd's (wii can't) -FTP to xbox ( wii can't) and many others... -Change skins (wii can't) So as you can see a modded xbox can do pretty much everything a wii can, it just takes up more space and is heavier. The thing wii does have over the x box is the Wii mote and Nun chuck which I must admit is pretty amazing. In your opinion what is better? it just takes a little bit more time to get all those things onto the xbox. You just need to install them but if you get an xbox for $40 (i did..got it 3 weeks ago lol.) and mod it..then just install the applications..thats....BALLER!!!!!!!!! but whats your oppinion? lol Jeremy Y. With all the stuff your regular xbox can perform its like impossible to not upgrade your hard drive, once upgraded your xbox is lethal. lol you freakin' douche. i asked what was better modded xbox or regular wii. I dont even own a wii! your answer doesnt even help one bit..

  25. Resolved Question: Are you a true child of the 80's,do any of these apply?
  26. 1 Apr 2008 at 11:03am
You had a crush on one of the New Kids on the Block members. You wanted to be on StarSearch. You ever uttered the word "Radical!" You wore jelly shoes and jelly bracelets You thought "Ghostbusters" was by far the coolest movie You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off. Or even when he had those freaky eyes in "Thriller" at the end of the video. You wore a banana clip in your hair or one of those slap on wrist bands at some point during your youth. You rolled up the bottoms of your splatter painted jeans. You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout." You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off." You can name half of the members of the elite "Brat Pack." You can remember watching Full House and Saved by the Bell for endless hours! You have seen at least 10 episodes of Fraggle Rock. You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer." You hold a special place in your heart for "Back to the Future." You know where to go if you "wanna go where everybody knows your name." You thought Molly Ringwald was REALLY cool. You know what "sike" and "not!" mean You fell victim to 80's fashion : big hair, crimped, combed over to the side, big hoop earrings, and possibly the worst:you wore spandex pants. You wanted to be a Goonie, or Elliot from E.T. You knew "The Artist" when he was humbly called "Prince." You actually saw Ted Danson as the MacDaddy he played "Sam" to be. You ever wore flourescent -neon if you will clothing.... You could breakdance, or wished you could. You know who He-Man and She-Ra are. You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game system. You know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby". You remember MC hammer well. You can still sing the rap to "Fresh Prince of Belair". You own any cassettes. You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living on the moon. Poltergeist freaked you out. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf. You ever had a Swatch Watch. You actually spent countless hours trying to perfect the care-bear stare. You had a crush on one of the Coreys You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny. You had WonderWoman or Superman underwear. You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween. You believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power" You thought that Transformers were more than meets the eye. Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know who Max Headroom is

  29. Voting Question: Help with Stella 2.1 (Atarti 2600 Emulator)?
  30. 31 Mar 2008 at 7:56am
I just downloaded an Atari 2600 Emulator called Stella 2.1 I can play the ROMS alright, but I have no idea how to bring up the menu. The screenshots in the emulator folder shows a menu of options of sound modification, graphics, control, ect. I really need to change the controls (since I prefer WASD to the arrow keys..and I have no idea what the "Game Change" button is) So could anyone help me with this? The only buttons they show are "Play" "Options" "Reload" and "Quit". The options only show a few things that are useless to me (snapshots and ROM directories).

  45. Resolved Question: What would gaming be like today?
  46. 28 Mar 2008 at 1:01pm
Nintendo's Family Computer (Famicom for short) hit Japan in 1983, and despite some early hardware quality issues, became an instant hit. It brought near-arcade quality gaming into the home, and actually cost less than the Japanese version of the Atari 2600. After such success in its home country, Nintendo began to cast its eye abroad, imagining the potential profits that could be reaped in the West. It didn't, however, feel confident in its ability to distribute and market its products to foreigners, and so began looking for a partner to handle the Famicom's worldwide distribution. Atari, meanwhile, was still the biggest name in Western video games, but was hemorrhaging cash at a tremendous rate. In an effort to keep the company afloat, Atari Chairman, Ray Kassar, scoured the world for potential business opportunities. The result of one such effort was the licensing of Nintendo's Donkey Kong for the Atari home computers. Remembering this transaction and impressed by Atari's global marketing network, Nintendo President, Hiroshi Yamauchi, decided that Atari would be a suitable choice for handling the worldwide distribution of Nintendo products outside of Japan. Even in this alternate universe Super Pitfall would have probably still sucked. Meetings were arranged, with Nintendo's two top executives first visiting Atari's Sunnyvale headquarters. After answering a litany of questions from Atari executives and lawyers, the Nintendo duo headed back to Seattle. Shortly thereafter, a group from Atari visited Nintendo's headquarters in Kyoto, where they got their first look at the Famicom in action. Things went very well, and after much back-and-forth, a tentative agreement was reached. It was decided to sign the contracts one month later, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago. A funny (or horrifying, depending on whom you ask) thing happened at CES. Coleco was showing off its new (and ill-fated) ADAM computer system, and had decided to use Donkey Kong as the demo game. While Coleco did own the home console rights to Donkey Kong, it was Atari that had earlier secured the computer rights. Once Atari's Ray Kassar caught wind of what was at the Coleco booth, he accused Nintendo of cheating and double-dealing behind Atari's back. Utterly furious, he threatened to cancel the Famicom deal and sue Nintendo out of existence. Nintendo did its best to rectify the situation, and was aghast when Kassar was ousted from Atari a month later. The contracts were still unsigned, and with Kassar seemed to go all hope of getting the Famicom marketed in the West. Atari's corporate implosion accelerated, and soon it wasn't able to afford the Nintendo deal anyway. Eventually, though, Nintendo decided to market the Famicom in America by itself, through its youthful American branch. The Nintendo Entertainment System finally debuted in 1985, and the rest, as they say, is history. History that doesn't include Atari.

I know they arent a player, but they are all great. *Vilma is a MLB*Cough* Unless you are talking about a Vilma i am unnaware of.

  53. Resolved Question: What are all the Atari systems in chronological order?
  54. 26 Mar 2008 at 7:25pm
After the discovery of an excellent gaming store with an amazing staff near my college, my boyfriend and I have decided to start a game system collection in my dorm. I am really retro and won't touch anything newer than a PS1, and even then I prefer the older systems. I only had a PS2, "donated" by a friend, for DVD purposes. So, as you could guess, we're really into the retro systems. We eventually want to get the more modern systems as well because we could hardly call our collection complete without them, but sometimes we find ourselves unable to remember the systems (or their chronological order) from the eras before we were born. In addition to the Ataris, we've been looking into the other collections. We're still very small right now, with NES, SNES, N64, and the first edition of the PS1, but we're looking to rapidly expand. Any and all suggestions of systems you think college kids may forget would be appreciated, and I would love you forever if it lists were chronological.

  63. Voting Question: CRC Check failed with winrar, ITS KILLING ME!!!!!?
  64. 23 Mar 2008 at 2:31pm
Last night I purchased Test Drive Unlimited at the Atari Web-site. I downloaded it with the PC Digital Download, it said that the checksums were wrong, but it was OK. When I ran the program, it started up WinRar self extracting wizard. It started extracting the files alright for a few minutes, then an error showed up, "CRC Check failed, file is corrupted, download a fresh copy". Many of the files recieveed the error, and the program finished. Then I ran the setup for the game, it was OK for a while, but then it asked me for the "Data.cab" file (It was one of the files that winrar had said was corrupted). It tried running the setup again, but the same problem. I tried extracting the files again, but again it gave me errors. I downloaded the latest versions of winzip and winrar. I redownloaded the actual file 3 times, but same results. I even tried on different computers, same result. I spent all my money on the game , and can't play the game. It would be great if you can help, THANKX CRC Check failed, thats the only solution I need!!!! Please!!!!!

  77. Resolved Question: Why do some game developers/producers keep releasing crapp...
  78. 20 Mar 2008 at 2:31pm
I just bought one of the worst racing games I've ever played. I was at this video rental store that was having a closing sale and picked up a few games for fairly cheap. Test Drive Unlimited was one of them, even though I only paid $10 for it I still feel like I got ripped off. Why did Atari even release this crap? You can't change the controls, the physics suck. I know it's an arcade type of racer but still. Need for Speed before they went ricer are 100x better than this game. The only thing it's got going for it is the selection of cars and the detail of them and the scenery everything else about the game makes me want to throw it in the garbage. I rented the new Godzilla Unleashed game a few weeks ago as well also from Atari. Thank god I rented it before buying it. I beat it in 3hrs and it seemed like it was released before even being finished since the cutscenes weren't even animated. Looks like I'm going to add Atari to the list of game producers not to buy from anymore.
