I have a HP DV4000. Last week I began to notice my keyboard wasn't keeping up with my typing. It was like I was typing to fast. My first thought was that it was a keylogger so I did a boot scan with Avast. When that didn't work, I decided to format my Hard Drive and reinstall windows XP. After i did this i noticed that I was still having the same problem and the computer is running a bit sluggish. I was just wondering if anyone had any answers for me as to my course of action. I really don't want to spend money on a computer tech.

My friends computer just shut down one day. The power supply turns on for a little sometimes for a long time but then turns off so something is wrong with the power supply. so when i turned it on it didn't show anything on the monitor but i changed the video card and then i could get into bios. i took his hd and tested it on my computer and it boots up fine. when i hook the hd back up to his computer it doesnt read it in bios i shouldnt have to change anything in bios either because it worked fine before. i tried primary and secondary slot on motherboard and both on IDE cable. tried cs and master on hd still nothing. it said media boot failure and check cables,and tells me to boot from disk.( he doesnt have one). back to the power supply thing i can turn on the power and when i turn it off i cant turn it on again unless i unplug it and replug it in. it doesnt work on 115 but was working on that before the crash, i put it to 230 and it will turn on like how i said.I'm thinking it may .. be the motherboard, I'm goig to try and boot another hd later but i bet it will do the same thing. its an amd board, with agp

I really like this guy, but its really hard for me to talk to him. We have only talked on the computer & from txting. He added me to myspace and we go to the same school. We have 3 class periods together. & I started liking him in October before he added me to myspace. & it was weird b/c I just started liking him a couple weeks B 4 he added me. My friends say its obvious that i like him. We r in the 8th grade btw. N e way sum times I see him looking at me more often & making like small talk and stuff but I think I just think hes interested in me b/c I want him to be. He sometimes says im to quiet and I need to talk more. Im prolly the most shy/quiet girl in the school & hes prolly the most good looking/perfect personality/and popular guy in the school. 2 nights ago he MSN me & we talked for 5 min & I said isnt weird how we only talk on the computer? & he answerd ya ur 2 quiet come up 2 me & say hi. & then we stopped talking HOW CAN I its so hard. I might say somethin dumb! he has a GF But his GF is a freshman so she doesnt go to our school and he doesnt seem that interested he never talkes about her and everyone knows they are gonna break up soon!

i registered a domain (www.altruisthomecare.com) from a site called droa.com which stands for domain registry of america. and i already built my site using dreamweaver cs3. now my only problem is uploading it. my main problem is that i can't login control panel program (plesk 8.3) and the ftp server because i never knew what my username and password was for both the ftp and control panel. i tried to check if the control panel program was an actual program for the computer and it was, (from parallels.com) but only to figure out that you needed a sever OS to run it. so i tried to use a webhosting server from 000webhost.com and used my domain now the problem is that i cant login to the ftp sever with the username and password they gave me, however, i can go to the control panel. so i tried to put my files to the ftp sever via the control panel to every folder premade in the control panel's file server but nothing i still cant view my site whenever i go to the domain. I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

hey, yesterday i got this virus, when i opened the file my computer crashed..and when i rebooted it my wallpaper had changed blue and then a bunch of like animated cockroach things came in from the sides and ate my desktop icons 0o i searched the computer with antivirus and it didn't detect it..now it comes up with the usual 'your computer has spyware, click here for anti virus' fake messages too its really slowing down my computer and i'm wondering if i need to do a computer reset? thanks :D (had to use safari to write this because firefox wont load at all....)

when i do a search for the picture, it shows up on the preview in the window withought the black circle, but when i open it to view it it appears out of nowhere. Leads me to believe its not really on the picture but imposed on it by some sort of virus or sumthing. What do i know, just that i can preview it all fine before opening it, and when i do the picture has a black circle blocking some of it. How would i remove that? its not all the pictures just one picture, im using the regular windows xp search and see the preview just fine, but when i open it in various programs it still has a black circle blocking someones face, i think they put it there when they send ,me the picture on purpose, but theres gotta be a way to remove it, becuase like i said when i preview it, it looks fine, just little obviously and i cant make out the details like i wan to.

Hello. Up until a year ago I thought I was this semi healthy individual until I had these sharp acute chest pains in my chest and neck followed by numbness in both my palms. I went to the ER and they did pretty much every check, including blood tests and nothing was found and they ruled it as stress. I asked them if they found any high cholesterol and they said there was none. To make the story shorter than is is, it happened again and the same thing, no cholesterol and it was "stress" related. I then ordered a home cholesterol kit via mail and my cholesterol was high, I shove those results in their faces and only then they scroll the computer records and stated I was found with cholesterol twice when I came. Can I sue them for not telling me this from the beginning? It's been a year after my first ER visit and now I am getting other complications as a result of their negligence. Jill B. I never said the ER has to be negligible for me having cholesterol. They should of have tell me this because only after I showed them an FDA approved kit, which yes thank you, I did fast did they took notice and found out they have not been telling me I indeed had high cholesterol since the very first time I came to the ER. Yes, the ER quick blood tests are indeed to find out if you have any heart troubles? That?s why cholesterol builds up, damages your arteries and HEART attack. Maybe you have a hubby in the medical field that was fired, I don?t know. But you seem to be very negative and not really a fact finder nor a good reader. Nonetheless I respect your opinion. Thank you.

I have a gateway laptop and all of a sudden today the left click isnt work. When I hit it to try to click open anything, its nonresponsive. I want me to be drawn as a fairy. I've tried, but i can behonest and say I was not blessed with the abiltiy to draw a face, or stick figure to be honest.. i draw/paint but for me its just the fun of it, but I really want me as a pixie/fae/fairy ya know? a lil princessy type one with flowers and what not. So I am getting my own computer soon and I would like my iTunes on it but I don't want to search through my music to find the ones I want on my new computer my dad decided that the HD windows was on was to full so he combined everyones music into one folder on another HD about 15 GB are mine the other 50gb are his and my brothers' and I don't want all of his music and copying all of those files by hand would be hard since I might miss some of them and it would take forever is there a way to take the music off my iPod directly into the new iTunes thanks

ok here is the exact story: my MP3 Player Creative: Zen was still in my pants pocket my brother washed said pants, then with out knowing continued to dry said pants with mp3 still inside,he then found the mp3 n brought it to me i tried to turn it on (prolly a stupid idea) nothing happened i then connected it to my computer where it acted as if everything was still normal (the screen seemed to have very slight minimal water damage) i then dis connected from the computer n tried to turn it on again the screen lit up and flashed a little bit but it did not turn on i re-connected and the same results however this time when i unplugged it and tried to turn it on it worked i shut it off then tried to turn it back on it did not work and froze with a lit up screen and nothing else i cud not turn it off so i reset the player and turned it on it now worked i checked its functions all were normal i shut it off again and now no matter what i do i can't get it to turn back on what do i do?

I just replaced the engine control computer in my 92 Bonneville. It remedied most of my problems, but it seems like it's taking it's time doing so. After installing it, it showed the same symptoms but they slowly went away. The only symptoms that remain are: 1. The car doesn't always like to start. I usually have to let it sit for 10-15 minutes after trying to start it a few times to get it to start. I don't do anything to it, just let it rest a bit, then it will start for me. 2. When making high speed or inclined turns, I lose power in the accelerator. I think it may be from the gasoline shifting in the tank. What's your take? How long should I allow the computer to get use to the car? It's fixed the stalling problems, but the ones I mentioned are still there. I've only ran about 40 miles since I got it. About 20 of them highway and the other 20 residential. 3. The car has returned to it's previous state of stalling with no rhyme or reason. I had it diagnosed and the codes I got were RPM related. So I put a new camshaft position sensor in because I know it send RPM info to the computer. It started after a few tries and some waiting. I let it idle for apox 15 minutes before I had to leave in my other car. Any suggestions? Do auto-part stores have fuel line pressure testers? Or is that something I'm going to have to have done at a shop?

When I try to save to Computer, it stops at a 3% and then it says under the "ESTIMATED TIME" that it is just increasing.560 Minutes and its still increasing!!! Why won't it save? Hello! I store some small files on one free website that allows me to use FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Everything is fine there. I gave the password to some of my relatives, so they can copy those files from my site using FTP through Interenet Explorer. But once it happened so that one of my relatives instead of copying the file just accidently moved it from my site to his computer, so now the file was only on his computer. Well, I have already told him about it and he has already returned the file back to me, but is there anyway for me to prevent this from happening in the future? I only want people to copy the files, but not move them away. Is there such a way in FTP? You may ask why using FTP then at all? Why not just let all the users enter my website through a usual way on the internet - not through FTP? Well, because in FTP they can highlighten all the files and copy6 all of them on their local computer all at once - not one by one - it is much easier.

Hello, I have a question regarding silent downloads of my computer. I recently installed a network monitor to control internet traffic and discovered that every hour, ezi_hnm2.exe (Dell Home Network Manager) downloads about 7.25 MB. That results in roughly 175 MB per day and roughly 5 GB per month if the computer is running most of the time. It seems like a huge potential waste of traffic limits. I was wondering if anyone knows what the program is downloading and why it is doing it. What possible information is needed for the upkeep of my network functionality? It does so whether I am on Wi-Fi or cable connection. Should I disable the program? Before I try to do so, I am trying to make sure I understand what it is doing, if only for curiosity. I suppose there is a reason for all this. (I have Windows XP and a Dell laptop, although this information is useless for this purpose.) Thanks a lot in advance for sharing if you know. Thanks. I have just discovered, after some research, that it was updates. So nasty! It has been checking for updates every hour. (Once I manually started and update check, it downloaded exactly the aforementioned volume...) I can't believe such an idiotic default setup has been made by Dell. I guess most inexperienced users are in the same situation, with network traffic increased for no reason. Anyway, thank you for the answer. Michal

I do not have a video camera so i record videos on my camera. When i try and upload them on my computer they only play in the quicktime player. i try to play them in windows media player but it says the codec is missing so it cannot play. i then try to edit it in windows movie maker but it says the video is not compatable. Is there a way that you can get the codec so that i can edit it in wondows movie maker and play it in windows media player. My friend and i are trying to make a movie but it needs editing and i can't do it. PLEASE HELP if you have any further questions just ask and i will add in more information thanks heaps

So my laptop crashed on me a couple of weeks ago and I went to my computer help desk. They fixed it so it could start up again but all of my files have been deleted. I think the computer must have rebooted itself and tried to restart the whole system. I spoke with the manager of the help desk but they said that they couldn't fix it and I would have to go to the computer store to get it fixed. What's wrong with my laptop? I have downloaded the latest version of Yahoo's Norton Antivirus Protection and I can't get it to update. I get a message that says the Live Update is running in the background, so any changes to it must wait until it is finished. It has been running since March 16th. The Help Menu and Help Tabs are confusing. I am not computer savy and need someone to talk to that can tell me what to do. Can you give me a phone number or email address for help? It's frustrating. I have "un-installed and re-installed" using the Dashboard twice, and re-booted, with no luck. The LiveUpdate just keeps running in the backgroud, even after I reboot, and I can't get the current AntiVirus software updated. I think I have version 2007.03.14. Please HELP. Thanks.

Recently, I installed Norton Anti-Virus 2008 trialware from the website to test the software out. Having a grasp of the software, but not wanting to purchase it, I uninstalled it. Now, however, I am left with a Computer Associates (ca) website pop-up that comes up every twenty minutes or so, and keeps telling me my trial has expired and prompting me to purchase the actual software, which I do not want to do because I am not fully satisfied with the software.
