  1. Resolved Question: Best Project Management Book?
  2. 7 Apr 2008 at 8:30pm
I need something of an "intermediate" level. leaning more towards an upper advance level... One which I can understand reading, yet very rich with information (discussion of the core skills, budget controlling, effective risk management, etc..). I need something "Theoretical" ofcourse, but more of a "practical" guide. Tell me the name/ISBN cause I'll buy it off Amazon.com Thanks.

  3. Resolved Question: Who Created God - Debunking Atheism?
  4. 7 Apr 2008 at 8:14pm
Given that God created everything, who created God? And who created that Being who created God? You would have Creators creating Creators at infinitum. Here's a theoretical situation to illustrate this. Say I wanted to move this couch from one side to the other side of my guest room. I try to lift it up and drag it, but I can't. So, I ask someone to give me a hand. And they say: "I will help you ON THE CONDITION that he helps me." And the other guy points at someone else and repeats the same thing. Everybody says: "I will ONLY help you if someone else helps me." Will I ever move the couch? And just as this couch will never be lifted, you will never get anything created. BUT THE CREATION IS HERE. So, you can't have Creators creating Creators for eternity. There has to be somewhere where it STOPS. There must be One where it stops - who is therefore infinite and eternal, without beginning and without end. Your thoughts?

  5. Resolved Question: Condoleeza Rice?
  6. 7 Apr 2008 at 7:38pm
This is a theoretical question of course. But considering the Candidates we currently have. Would you have taken her over the other 3. As President She is far more respected the other candidates. 53% of the American Public has a favorable view of her.More than three-quarters of Republicans (77 per cent) and 54 per cent of independents have a positive opinion of her. Remarkably, Democrats are evenly split in their opinion of Rice, with 43 per cent expressing favourable views of Rice. Shes fluent in 4 languages so she could work with others and grew up in the heart of the Civil Rights in Birmingham, AL. She even lost her childhood friend to Racism. But then the downside she is tied to the Bush Administration and to Chevron and TransAmerica as well as some other Corporate Giants. http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/apr/07look2.htm I meant work with other nations. Plus this would rid the US of the stigma of White Male President.

  18. 6 Apr 2008 at 11:07pm
Given: K4[Fe(CN)6] 1) What is the name of the complex (or complex ion)? 2)On important factor in any chemical synthesis is the actual quantity of desired product obtained compared to the theoretical amount predicted on the basis of the stoichiometry of the reaction. The ratio of the mass of product obtained to the theoretical quantity, expressed as a percentage, is referred to as the "percent yield" or more simply the "yield". For example: if we react HCl with excess NaOH one of the products will be NaCl. If we assume that all of the Cl in HCl ends up as NaCl we know that each mole of HCl consumed should produce a mole of NaCl product. Suppose that in a particular reaction 11.1 grams of HCl (36.5 g/mol) react with excess NaOH and 18.1 grams of NaCl (58.5 g/mol) are isolated from the reaction mixture by crystallization. What is the percent yield of NaCl in the experiement?

  21. Resolved Question: Stoiciometry help needed?
  22. 6 Apr 2008 at 9:52pm
So I'm working on this lab and have to find the theoretical yield of Ag. I get that the theoretical yield is basically a mass to mass formula/equation but what I'm confused is ...what reactant do I use as the given to find the theorectical yield of the Ag. How do I know which reactant to use? Is it the limiting reactant? given x molar mass factor of given x mole ratio x molar mass factor of unknown (Ag) = theoretical yield of unkown (Ag) ....the formula is correct, right? Now all I need to know is which reactant is used as the given....and how I find that out. Thanks in advance! Oops... I realized I spelt it wrong. Stoichiometry! sorry...haha.

lets say i have 1 share of google stock that cost me $100(this is all theoretical) if i see at the end of the day that google has gone up "x" points, or 3.56%, does that mean that my $100 is increased by 3.56% making my total value $103.56 or is it a more complicated system. I'm a sophomore in high school trying to learn how all this works =p. I hope to have my learning done by this summer or next school year so i can start investing some of my money. seriously, he has maybe 1 couch and that's it. No tv, no bed, no dining table, no chairs, nothing. He makes about 66k and he has 10k in debt. I don't know where his money goes but he likes to live very simply because he says it drives him so he's never comfortable. He also pays a lot in taxes and his car payment is 500 a month. He is about to get a check for 8k but now he wants some furniture, at least a tv and a bed. He asked me if he should use that 8k towards his debt or if he could use it for furniture and his monthly bills, which average to about 2k so that would leave 6 or 5k and use that for furniture and just pay above the minimums of his debt which is what he was doing? He feels he now wants some furniture, he feels he makes enough money to deserve some. What do you think? He won't get another 8k check for a while, he doesn't want to wait anymore for furniture. Or should he skip the furniture and put it towards a down payment for a house? He doesn't know what to do.

  44. 5 Apr 2008 at 7:34pm
I am trying to construct a gallium reflector (for a telescope) by heating the liquid and rotating it in a pan to form a palabra; however, because gallium is more expensive than silver, I am trying to use as little of it as possible. I know exactly how much of a "theoretical fluid" I need for the job; however, my question is: does this "theoretical fluid" act the same way as any fluid, no matter what fluid I use? I have a hunch that it probably does due to the equivalence of inward and outward force in equilibrium; however, I am uncertain of this.

Rosalind Franklin and DNA ?Science and everyday life can not and should not be separated? said Rosalind Franklin. She was right because science has a major role in our life which is important to survive. She gave us a great insight to know about our present and future life while putting her own life at risk. Franklin did a great research which led to our understanding of the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid, DNA. It is the hereditary material in humans and every living organism which is pretty compulsory. DNA gives us knowledge about the past, present, and future life of every living organism. Gene that is made of DNA is important to understand the genetic characteristic of human being or any other living organism. These genes are responsible for a person to get different color of eyes, complexion, height, body size, intelligence, and soon. These genes can also help us to understand if an inborn child is going to receive any disease or disorder from their parents with the help of genome project. If scientist knows that inborn child is not going to be a healthy child and may receive a disorder or disease from parents, then they can help parents to make right decision about their future child. Because of this great lady today scientist have accomplished a lot and raised many steps for human growth. The first time I became interested to knowing about this scientist when I saw? The Secret of 51?, a movie about Franklin and her work in the discovery of DNA. The first time I watched this movie in my biology class which was pretty interesting to know about this lady and her work. My curiosity about this great lady made me to explore her life and role in DNA. History is filled with scientists who are man and only few are woman. Nevertheless, women have great contribution to science, which is incredible. This world is also filled with competition and everyone wants to achieve higher prestigious in life. No matter if person choose wrong way or take other person?s credit. This is what happened with Rosalind Franklin who gave up her life to solve a mystery but could not achieve what others achieved with her work. Rosalind Franklin, a genius scientist was born on 25, July 1920 in London. Her father was Ellis Franklin, an Anglo- Jewish who was the partner of keyser?s bank. In 1931, Franklin educated from St. Paul?s Girl?s School and entered in Cambridge University after graduating. At Cambridge University, she received her BA and majored in physical chemistry. Her father wanted her to choose something traditional that is known as girl?s work but she always worshipped science. At the physical chemistry laboratory, she did research on the kinetic of polymerization reaction. In1949, with the help of his friend Charles coulson, a theoretical scientist, she started to look into X- ray diffraction of large biological molecule. In 1950, after awarding for three ? year turner, John T. Randall asked Franklin to investigate DNA. She became an expert in X-ray crystallography, an art of understanding the biologically structure of molecule with the help of X-rays. In 1951, Rosalind joined Maurice Wilkins?s lab to study the DNA structure. (.0) Franklin was one of those hard workers who do their work and don?t show until achieving the whole goal. Wilkins and Franklin both was expert in X-ray diffraction. They used X- ray diffraction method to study DNA, a secret of life. Franklin and Wilkins were getting close to the mystery of life. On the other hand, two other scientist James Watson and Francis crick were struggling to solve this mysterious puzzle in Cavendish laboratory at Cambridge. Nevertheless, they both were not expert in X- ray diffraction and neither have they had the understanding of chemical bonding. In 1951, they guessed the structure of stereo chemical configurations of polynucleotide chains and made molecular model of DNA. Nevertheless, their first effort went futile and was unsatisfactory for them. The worst part of this overall research was that Wilkins and Rosalind were very open about their research. In 1953, Watson saw Franklin?s X- ray diffraction photo and with the help of Wilkin read her unpublished research summary. They never revealed to Franklin that they have read her research about DNA and never gave her credit for her work. (ROSLAIND PAPER). However, Franklin was few steps ahead from Watson and crick in this DNA research race. Nevertheless, Franklin had to leave this race because of her health problems. When she had an operation doctor told her that she has two tumors in her abdomen. In 1956, she diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She continued working even when she was ill; she visited to United States for conference meeting and presentation. She also visited to coal research conference and her colleagues in viral research lab. There?s seems to two reason that made her to lose her precious life at very young age. First, she was Ashkenazi Jews and cancer was highest amongst Jews. Secondly, she worked a lot with X- ray radiation and chemicals to solve a mystery of human life. She continued working with chemicals while avoiding her health. After going through many surgeries she gave up her life on April, 1958. During her last few years, she continued working in lab with chemicals without worrying about her health. In early 1871, Friedrich Miescher discovered DNA while working at a laboratory in Tuebingen Castle in southwestern Germany. In 1940, Nobel laureate Erwin Schrödinger acknowledged a new field of biophysics and in his lecture he raised a question,? what is life?. In 1949, Erwin chargoff discovered that total numbers of DNA?s four base chemicals are always equal to the total number of other four base chemicals. His finding also helped two later scientists Watson and Crick to create a DNA's structure after four years. In late 1940s scientist knew that DNA is a molecule of life and contain four nitrogenous bases. These includes adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine (usually abbreviated A, T, G and C), but nobody was aware of the shape of molecule. Watson also had the information of base pairing from Erwin chargoff that amount of adenine always equals the amount of thymine, and amount of guanine always equal to cytosine. For instance, human DNA contains about 30 percent adenine and 20 percent of guanine and also contains 30 percent of thymine and 20 percent of cytosine. With the help of many people knowledge and research In April 1953, James and Watson made the molecule structure of DNA- helix and this is time they achieved their goal. In 1962, they shared the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine with Maurice Wilkins, for solving the DNA mystery with the help of X-ray crystallography. Nobody gave any credit to Franklin for her great hard work. The worst part of this DNA race was that the person who started this race and was very close to aim could not make it. Franklin who was the responsible of DNA died before knowing that how much she helped other to understand the complex structure of DNA. Watson and crick received the award of discovering DNA, but only using many scientist discoveries that were ahead of them. ?The secret of 51?, is a movie about Rosalind Franklin and her contribution to science which reflect that how she has been treated unfairly. In 1968, James Watson, wrote a book? the double helix?, to reflect the structure of DNA and other scientist contribution to the study of this molecular structure. In his book he presented Franklin as bad tempered, arrogant, and jealous person, who was not able to interpret the DNA. Many scientist and reviewers did not like his attitude about Franklin, but his book was pretty popular. In order to give the answer of Watson attitude, Anne sayre published a biography of Watson role and Franklin contribution in the DNA discovery. Her book reflected how Franklin had been treated unfairly and could not receive the noble award which Maurice, Watson, and crick received.

In the aftermath of the mid-century rebellions, the search for political stability became a primary goal of monarchs and regional political elites. Royal reforms of administrative policy were balanced by a greater willingness on the part of the regional elites to cooperate with the central government. While England developed balanced constitutions that limited the role of the monarchy, elsewhere the rule of government was royal absolutism. Most countries were unwilling to grant the degree of political freedom necessary for the operation of a balanced constitution. More common was the development of absolute monarchy along the lines developed by Thomas Hobbes. Absolutism involved reverence for the person of the monarch as the symbol of the state, the consequent diminution of other elites within the state, personal management of the government by the ruler, decline of influence of representative bodies, and growth of the military. Absolutism remained more theoretical than practical. It depended on a capable ruler, the absence of religious diversity, and the will of the governed to support the government. Cardinal Richelieu was the architect of absolutism in France. Richelieu attempted to neutralize what he perceived as the three greatest threats to the French state: the position of the Huguenots in positions of power, the independence of the aristocracy, and the freedom of action enjoyed by regional governors. Richelieu brought the nobility under the rule of law, appointed intendants to undercut the authority of regional governors, and revoked the privileges of self-government jealously guarded by the Huguenots. Richelieu's policies of centralization brought on the Fronde. Richelieu's foundation for absolutism was advanced during the reign of Louis XIV. In 1661, Louis personally assumed the tasks of government without a chief minister. Louis played the part of state symbol better than any other monarch. Versailles became the facade for statecraft. The French aristocracy was emasculated through required service at the royal palace where they were reduced to enacting complex rituals of etiquette. The appearance of Versailles established Louis' court as the most majestic in Europe. Absolutism depended on the capability of the king. Louis, though able to create a magnificent stage on which absolutism was played, bankrupted France through an aggressive foreign policy.

Bloody idiot. 1st poster: As I live in the Western suburbs of Sydney, there are a lot of minority groups near me, including Muslims, and, on the occasions I do pass Mosques, I get pretty much no dirty looks (In fact, the Christian churches give me more dirty looks then the Muslims) 2nd poster: Right because America is so perfect! If you knew anything about the commonwealth, you'd know that Australians don't want to be in it, and when we were going to back out, the results suddenly became that we actually didn't (Despite it's high approval ratings) Yes, we hate America, but we also hate England.

The guy is very (too) casual, acceptable to lowest of the lows of life (meaning, even illegal trades to some degree.) and extremely outgoing. The guy called my Mother last night, (he thinks my Mother is very trustworthy) and asked how I was doing. (The first and the last time I met him was when I was 17. I'm 24 now.) Mother replied I study online marketing. Which I have been doing for the last few years. The things that I have learned were not theoretical but practical application which brings in results. I could not find myself to indulge in this activity because I had no funds. When I did, however, I made money. What kind of deal should I make with this guy? What would he want, what offer should I give him which would be most plausible to him and should I take on the deal. My presentation would be mostly theoretical practice. But based on example of others who succeeded.

  69. Resolved Question: Theocracy: A tool for The Beast?
  70. 4 Apr 2008 at 5:22am
*Full question: +Do you think that a theocracy (if it were to arise [again?] in our modern times) could be an ideal tool for The Beast? Sub-question: +Could 'it' possibly be closer than we previously thought it would be? [My questions are just theoretical questions and are not an attempt to interpret the Scriptures for readers. Also, I have refrained from Biblical quotation.]

  81. Resolved Question: Write it in some simple english ..please?
  82. 3 Apr 2008 at 3:26pm
English isn't my first language...so my english isn't very good however, i have to read this article... can someone rewrite this article is easy and simple english for me, but not missing any details... please and thank you After the discovery of CO, CO2, and more recently H2O in Titan?s atmosphere, the chemistry of oxygenated organic compounds in this environment has been limited to theoretical studies only. Both kinetic and thermochemical models predict the formation of methanol and formaldehyde as the main O-organic products. Here we show that oxirane (also named ethylene oxide) is the main product in experiments designed to simulate the upper atmosphere of Titan; methanol and formaldehyde are not produced in detectable amounts. Oxirane has been previously detected in the interstellar medium and hot molecular cloud cores. The first opportunity to detect it in Titan will occur in 2005 January during the entry of the Huygens probe into the satellite?s atmosphere. and Therefore, oxirane becomes a molecule of wide astrophysical interest. copy by http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1086/378792

  86. 3 Apr 2008 at 10:08am
If yes, who,why and in what capacity? If no, why not? This is 'theoretical' so no point in saying... for example... "Rangers/Celtic will never go bust" before you start! Angie, they are or they're not 'their'. This is in reference to your answer's grammar, I quote - "But in answer to the question Motherwell as their quite local" Thankyou. Also, kicking me would be the last thing you ever done

  91. Resolved Question: HOMEWORK HELP? Answer needed in 6 hours!!!?
  92. 3 Apr 2008 at 5:11am
You have been placed in charge of ensuring that a game for a non-profit organisation is fair. The game is loosely based on poker however is only played with Jacks, Kings, Queens and Aces of all four suites (Hearts, Spades, Clubs, Diamonds). The starting card has been taken out and is ALWAYS the Queen of Hearts. The cards in the pack are not replaced after they have been dealt. The dealer will then deal out two more cards. If you finish with a three of a kind or a straight flush then you win some money. THREE OF A KIND: three of the same type of card (eg. Queen of Hearts, Queen of Spades, Queen of Clubs) STRAIGHT FLUSH: three cards in a row of the same suite (eg. Queen of Hearts, King of Hearts, Jack of Hearts) 1) What possible combinations may be dealt for a player to draw i) three of a kind ii) straight flush? 3) Use the addition and multiplication principles to calculate the theoretical probability of drawing: - a three of a kind - a straight flush NOTE: The Queen of Hearts must always be first - in all combinations. Extra Question: There have been reports that the dealer has been 'rigging' the cards as he dealt them and that people have been winning less than they should have if it was a fair game. After analysing the game for some time, police have found that the relative frequency of: - a three of a kind is 0.01 - a straight flush is 0.005 Was the game fair? Justify your answer fully. Can you please, please help with these questions? I have tried and tried but they seem to be impossible to figure out.

  97. Resolved Question: Theoretical Q about Saturn?
  98. 3 Apr 2008 at 2:34am
OK, Saturn is a gas planet, and is less dense than water if I am not mistaken. The gases are kept in place by gravitational forces. Keep in mind, this is just a theoretical question. My question is, If you shot an "indestructible" arrow at Saturn, what would happen to it? Would it pass through to the other side, or do we think the planet has a denser core it would stick into? Or would it hit the core and just float around there due to gravity? What if the same arrow was shot at the sun? Same thing? I'm just trying to envision this planet's physical characteristics in lay-mans terms. ....to try and explain it to an inquisitive 10 year old nephew of mine.
