Microsoft Has Little for Advertisers Microsoft will deliver some news on its online services next week when online advertisers descend on Seattle, though it is not likely to provide the real shot in the arm the business needs. WPP has announced a two-fold alliance with Yahoo, days after Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of the advertising group expressed his disappointment that Microsoft's offer for the internet company had not succeeded. The tech sector's attention was captured by two major deals this week, as Hewlett-Packard Co. said it will buy Electronic Data Systems Corp. for $13.2 billion and CBS Corp. agreed to acquire CNET Networks Inc. for $1.8 billion. Yahoo! grows its display advertising business through WPP.
